Washington Glass Pattern

The Washington pattern of pressed flint glass was manufactured by the New England Glass Co. in the early 1860′s and was carried in their catalogue as late as 1869. It was manufactured in 25 different forms of clear glass and, counting different sizes, in 65 different variations. It does not appear to have been copied by other glassmakers to the extent many early patterns were and is today considered scarce.

Ruth Webb Lee includes the Washington pattern in her “Colonial Group” of early glass (Pattern No. 16) characterized by its heavy, brilliant flint and simple design.
