The Kenton Lock Manufacturing Company of Kenton, Ohio added toys and banks to its production line in 1894 and the company’s name was changed to the Kenton Hardware Manufacturing Company. However, its reputation as a quality lock manufacturer was not lost, as bank enthusiasts today still marvel at the well-constructed nature of their banks’ locks. The J. Chein & Co. Toy Manufacturers

Julius Chein (pronounced ‘chain’) established J. Chein & Co. in 1903 with a factory in Harrison, New Jersey. By the 1920′s Chein was a leading manufacturer of lithographed tin toys, many of them wind-up or mechanical toys, with over 250 employees.
