Maria Regnier, American Silversmith (1901 to 1994)
The work of noted St. Louis silversmith Maria Regnier is marked by its sleek simplicity emphasizing the beauty and luster of the material itself rather than its adornment. Her distinctive geometric designs have been exhibited at museums in Boston, Chicago, New York and St. Louis. Born in 1901 in Hungary Maria moved to the United States in 1921 following her passion for silver and metalworking early in her studies at Washington University and continued her education at the Rhode Island School of design.
