Roseville Pottery Pinecone Pattern

Roseville's Pinecone pattern presents one or two small pinecones surrounded by long, arching pine needles in brown, green or blue, 1931. Pink background is rare. Gnarled pine bough or needles used for handles on baskets, vases and ewers. Justartpottery.com calls Pinecone "the most successful and highest volume pattern produced during the existence of Roseville Pottery." Mark: Roseville impressed or in relief, black paper label or Pine Cone impressed. There were 148 Pinecone shapes: 125 shapes were used once, 15 were used twice, and three were used three times. The jardinia¨re, shape #632, came in nine sizes ranging from 3" to 12." The wall plate, punch bowl, small and large pedestal were unnumbered. Numerous fake brown vases have been discovered. Pinecone is a middle period Roseville line.
