Learned, Harry A – American western artist

Harry A. Learned (American, 1844 to 1893)

Harry Learned was born in Boston, traveled with his family west to Kansas in 1855, and then to Colorado where they were unsuccessful in the gold rush. In 1869 Learned decided to become a full time artist and studied in Chicago under Henry Chapman Ford, and was admitted to the Academy of Design there. He traveled throughout Colorado painting views of mining districts. He is represented in the collections of the Denver Art Museum and the Amon Carter Museum.
