Hoffbauer, Charles Constantine – French/American Artist

Charles Constantine Hoffbauer (1875-1957)

Charles Hoffbauer was born in France and he studied in Paris with Gustave Moreau Fernand Cormon. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in the 1890s, and his work won numerous awards during his carrerr. During WWI, he produced dramatic renditions of battlefield scenes and sent them to magazines for publication. He was a prolific artist who always sketched studies before completing a work.
