Richard Clifford Diebenkorn (American, 1922 to 1993)
By 1955, Richard Diebenkorn abandoned his early, abstract style in favor of representational paintings, and he frequently painted figural images. He studied the human form through drawing with David Park and Elmer Bischoff, friends and former teachers. His paintings of figures were intended to evoke a similar set of emotions as his abstract works and included the same stylistic elements of bold colors and flattened spatial planes. Narcisse Virgile Diaz De La Pena (French, 1807 to 1876)
Narcisse de la Pena Diaz, a French landscape and figure painter and founding member of the avant-garde Barbizon school, was born in Bordeaux of Spanish parents. Jean Baptiste Edouard Detaille (French 1848 – 1912)
(Jean Baptiste) Edouard Detaille was a French Academic painter noted for his precision and realistic detail. Detaille was a student of the great Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier. He served in the French Army in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 and became the official painter of the battles. Eugene Francois Adolphe Deshayes (French, Algerian, 1868 to 1939)
Deshayes was born in Algeria and many of his works depict the natural beauty of that country. He studied under Jean-Leon Gerome, one of the leading painters of the Orientalist school. In 1910 Deshayes was named a “Pientre de la Marine”, a title bestowed by the Minister of Defense of France to those artists whose works reflect the glory of the sea.

Adolf Arthur Dehn (American, 1895-1968)
Adolf Dehn was born in Minnesota, studying at the Minnesota School of Art. In 1921 he traveled extensively in Europe to further his artistic education, afterwards settling in New York City. He went on to develop innovative techniques in the medium of lithography, as well as painting landscapes in oils and watercolors.

Ralph Earl DeCamp (1858-1936)
Ralph DeCamp was a landscape painter and western illustrator who lived and worked in Montana. He worked in oil and watercolor and painted in many National Parks. In 1912 and 1927 Decamp was commissioned to paint landscape murals for the Montana Capital. He was an acquaintance of Charles Russell and his work can be seen in the C. M. Russell Gallery.
Joseph F. De Yong (American, 1894 to 1975)
Joe De Yong was born in Webster Grove, Missouri. Though he earned his living as a cowboy early on, he had exposure to fame by roping with Will Rogers and making Western movies with Tom Mix. In 1916, he developed a student/teacher relationship with Charles M. Claude-Francois Auguste de Mesgrigny (French, 1836 to 1884
Born in Paris in 1836, Claude Francois Auguste, Marquis de Mesgrigny, was a student of Maxime Lalanne and Jules Worms. He made his artistic debut at the Paris Salon in 1866 with charcoal drawings and later exhibited “Views of the Environs of Chaubourg” and “View of Spain”.

John Stockton De Martelly, 1903 to 1979.
John de Martelly (Martelli) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1903. Thomas Hart Benton, the famous regionalist painter was one of his art teachers at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. De Martelly also studied in Florence, Italy and London, England. He became a painter, and by 1937 had won prizes, including the Lighton prize for Best Painting by a Kansas City Artist. Bernard Johann de Hoog (Dutch, 1867 to 1943)
Bernard Johann de Hoog was born in 1867 in Amsterdam, where he later studied under J.F. Hulk and J.C. van Essen and worked. He also worked in Laren, Haarlem and The Hague. De Hoog was a renowned portrait and genre painter in his time. He is particularly well known for his interior scenes, especially those portraying maternal love for which he attained great celebrity.
