Jonathan Scott Hartley (1845-1912)
Hartley studied in England, Paris and Rome and exhibited at the Royal Academy, the NAD, the PAFA, and the Pan-Am Expo. He was a founding member of the Salmagundi Club and his wife was the daughter of George Innes.

William M. Hart (1823 to 1894)
William Hart was born in Paisley, Scotland on March 31, 1823, brother of two other well-known painters, James McDougal Hart and Julie Hart Beers. The Hart family moved to Albany, New York in 1831 where William became an apprentice to a carriage maker painting panel decorations before becoming a portrait painter at the age of 18. James McDougal Hart (1828 – 1901)
James McDougal Hart was a leading figure of the second generation Hudson River School painters and was known for idyllic landscapes, especially those of cows. His family emigrated to Albany, New York in 1830 when he was two, and at fifteen, Hart apprenticed to a sign and banner painter in Albany. Later he switched to portrait painting. Charles Hart Pottery
Charles Hart was one of a family of potters operating from the 1830′s in the Ogdensburg, Sherburne and Fulton areas of New York. Charles was the son of James Hart, who moved to Sherburne in 1841 to open a pottery, having been a potter in Fulton (then called Oswego Falls) with his brother Samuel.

Charles Harsanyi (1905-1973)
Charles was born in Tapoka, Hungary, and as a young man studied with A. Bankhard at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. He moved to the United States in 1947 and became a prominent member of the Audubon Artists Association, serving first as a juror and then as director.

Harry Shourds Decoys
Harry Van Nuckson “Nuck” (H.V.) Shourds (circa 1861 to 1920) decoy carver of Tuckerton, Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. H.V. Shourds was the father of decoy carver Harry Kitchell Shourds (1890 to 1943) of Tuckerton and later Ocean City, New Jersey.
Jim Harrison
Jim Harrison’s journey as an artist seems to have begun when he first climbed onto a sign painter’s scaffold on the side of McCartha’s Hardware in Denmark, South Carolina. The Coca-Cola sign that he began that day with his mentor, J. J. Cornforth, was the first of more than 100 similar signs he painted over the next few years and shaped the future work of this South Carolinian in many ways.

Charles Stuart Harris (circa 1830-1918)
Charles Harris began as a silverplater around 1850 and assumed the workshop of John Mark Harris (relationship unknown) in 1860 in London. By the 1870′s, Harris was renowned for his reproductions of 18th-century styles. Harris’ workshop was expanded in 1885 and 1897 by the acquisition of the manufactories of the Houle and Harris brothers, respectively, so that by 1900 C. H. Harris, Ltd. Charles W. Hargens (1893-1997)
Hargens was born in South Dakota. Growing up in the West gave Hargens the basis from which to paint his Western scenes. As his skill and interest in painting progressed, Hargens moved east to study at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. While at the Academy his work was influenced by instructor Daniel Garber. Channing Weir Hare (1899-1976)
Channing Hare was born in New York in 1899. He studied at the Art Students League and with Robert Henri and George Bellows. He exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Society of Independent Artists. He passed away in Palm Beach, Florida in 1976.
