Comport is an old term for compote. A compote is a dish with a base, stem and shallow bowl, sometimes having a lid. It may be made of glass, silver, china, porcelain or pottery. It is usally used for serving fruit, nuts, candy, or desserts.

Worthington, Alfred – English artist

Alfred Worthington (English, 1835 to 1927)

Worthington was both an artist and a photographer. He moved to Aberystwyth, on the western coast of England. His family owned a number of fishing vessels, his brothers were masters of some, and two of his sons were fishermen. He has a Sea scene in the collection of the Ceredigion Museum in Aberystwyth.
