Mary DeNeale Morgan (1868-1948)

Born in San Francisco in 1868, where she was a favorite pupil of William Keith, Mary DeNeale Morgan is best remembered for her contributions to the Carmel art community, where she moved circa 1910. Henry Moret (French 1856-1913)

Originally from Normandy, Henry Moret discovered the charms of Brittany during his military service when he was stationed at Lorient. In 1881 he went to Pont-Aven where he met many artists but was ultimately most influenced by his friendship with Gauguin. Moran, Edward Percy – American Artist

Edward Percy Moran (1862-1935)

The son of painter Edward Moran, and nephew of Thomas Moran, Edward Percy Moran studied in New York with his father, the National Academy of Design and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He was well-known as a watercolorist and was a member of the National Watercolor Society.

Mootzka, Waldo – American Artist & Silversmith

Waldo Mootzka (1910 to 1940)

Waldo Mootzka had no formal art training but observed Fred Kabotie at the Oraibi Day School. He learned watercolor and later was schooled in silversmithing by Frank Patania in Santa Fe. His artwork focuses on mythology and tribal ceremonies. He died at the age of 30 in an automobile accident in Phoenix.

Jacob Bailey Moore (1815-1893)

Jacob Bailey Moore was born in Candia, New Hampshire in 1815 and died in that state in 1893. For a brief time he worked in Boston before returning to New Hampshire. During his career he spent brief stints as a journalist and as a phrenologist as well as an itinerant artist.

Herman Moll (1654?-1732)

Perhaps England’s greatest early 18th century map publisher, Herman Moll was a Dutch native who moved to London to work as an engraver circa 1680. Moll was one of the first mapmakers to use London as the prime meridian for longitude.
