Ruth Alexander Robertson Fontenot (1914 to 1995)

Born in Opelousas, Louisiana, Ruth Robertson Fontenot was a historian, genealogist and artist. She attended Newcomb College of Art for two years, but due to the economic hardship of the Depression transferred to Southwest Louisiana Institute (today University of Louisiana, Lafayette).

The New England folk artist Henry Folsom’s life dates are given variously as 1792 to 1814 or circa 1805 to 1825. The noted twentieth century collector and scholar Nina Fletcher Little used the 1792 to 1814 dates.

Flaubert, Gustave – French Author

Gustave Flaubert (French 1821 to 1880)

Gustave Flaubert was a novelist born in Rouen, France. His 1857 realist masterpiece Madame Bovary garnered him attempted prosecution and widespread condemnation for immorality. Among his later works is Salambo (1862), a story of the siege of Carthage in 240-237 BC by mercenaries. His 1877 work, Three Tales, proved him a master of the short story.

Henry Fitz Jr. (1808-1863)

An early experimenter and businessman in the art of the photography, Henry Fitz Jr. of Baltimore opened the first daguerreotype portrait studio in Maryland in the summer of 1840 at 112 Baltimore Street.
