Peter Macchiarini (1907 to 2001)
Macchiarini trained in Europe as a sculptor in the 1920s, and returned to his native state of California to work as a stone carver, sculptor and self-taught jeweler. Many of his first pieces of jewelry were made from silver and display a constructivist interest in internal structure and layering.

Walter MacBride, New York cabinetmaker
Active in New York City from circa 1792 to 1799, Walter MacBride produced “a substantial number of Windsors, primarily braced bow-back side chairs and braced continuous-arm chairs, all of which were branded,” according to William C. Ketchum, Jr., in American Cabinetmakers: Marked American Furniture, 1640-1940.
Ketchum notes that MacBride worked at various locations in Manhattan. His mark, however, is believed to have remained the same, “W MACBRIDE/N.YORK”. That mark [...] Click here to continue reading.
David Maass (1929- )
An avid sportsman and ardent contributor to conservation organizations, David Maass has been actively painting game birds for more than thirty years. In the past twenty years he has designed more than thirty conservation stamps and prints, a distinction few artists can claim.

Michael Lyne (1912 to 1989)
Michael Lyne was a British hands-on sporting artist who worked in oils and watercolor. His art career flourished as an illustrator for books and magazines, especially for the British Country Life magazine. He also did commission work for many horseracing notables including Paul Mellon and many other Virginia and New York families.

Luigi Lucioni (1900-1988)
Luigi Lucioni was born in Malnate, Italy, in 1900 and is a well-respected artist known for the photographic realism of his landscapes and still life paintings. Lucioni immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1911. He studied art at Cooper Union, and at the National Academy of Design under William Auerbach Levy.

Jane Wells Webb Loudon(1807-1858)
Jane Wells Webb, earned her living through writing after the death of her father left her in poverty at age 17. Her first book was a romantic work of science fiction called The Mummy, a Tale of the Twenty-Second Century, published in 1827. Thomas W. Lorimer (Born 1941)
Thomas Lorimer commonly depicts Indian camp scenes at the exact moment of sundown, with an accuracy of light and starkness of detail. Born in Indiana in 1941, Lorimer used the claim from a motorcycle accident to enroll at the Chicago American Academy of Art, and has since favored Western scenes.

Richard Lorenz (1858 to 1915)
A native of Voigstaedt, Weimar, Germany, Richard Lorenz is best known for his portrayals of settlers and their ensuing conflicts with the Plains Indian. As a young man, he studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Weiman, and had as an instructor Heinrich Albert Brendel, a well-known painter of wildlife.

Leota Williams Loop was an Indiana artist who painted floral still life and landscapes. She was born in Fountain City, Indiana and spent her career as an active artist in Brown County, Indiana.
